Mendip Patient and Public Involvement in Health Forum - This Forum is no longer in operation it is part of the Somerset PPI Forum

The Forums will play a vital role in making sure patients’ and the public’s views are heard and acted on by all those involved in making decisions.  The functions of the Forums have been laid down by law; this means they will have real power to make a difference, not just discussion groups.

The  Forum covers all parts of the Mendip District Council area, (plus Bruton), Forum members welcome input from the public on any issue related to health including environmental and lifestyle issues, care in the community, GP & dental services, health promotion, community hospitals and primary care services.

• Closure of Wells and Butleigh hospitals, and the opening of a new West  Mendip hospital between Wells and Glastonbury.
• New hospital to be built at Frome
• Independent Treatment Centre, offering diagnostic, day surgery and  inpatient surgery, to be opened at Shepton Mallet
• Access to services difficult in some areas, because public transport is sparse/nonexistent
